{"id":35215,"date":"2016-09-23T12:27:30","date_gmt":"2016-09-23T08:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/1905.az\/en\/?p=35215"},"modified":"2016-09-23T12:27:31","modified_gmt":"2016-09-23T08:27:31","slug":"karabakh-conflict-priority-austrias-osce-presidency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1905.az\/en\/karabakh-conflict-priority-austrias-osce-presidency\/","title":{"rendered":"Karabakh conflict to be priority of Austria\u2019s OSCE presidency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be among the priorities of Austria\u2019s chairmanship at the OSCE in 2017, said Austria\u2019s Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kurz made the remarks at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, US.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Austrian minister assured that the settlement of conflicts in the east of Ukraine, Georgia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Transnistria will be among the priorities of Vienna\u2019s chairmanship at the OSCE in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The chairmanship will pass to Austria in January 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
