{"id":43705,"date":"2017-08-25T15:03:47","date_gmt":"2017-08-25T11:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/1905.az\/en\/?p=43705"},"modified":"2017-08-25T15:03:47","modified_gmt":"2017-08-25T11:03:47","slug":"us-co-chair-osce-mg-publishes-key-points-karabakh-conflict-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1905.az\/en\/us-co-chair-osce-mg-publishes-key-points-karabakh-conflict-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"US co-chair of OSCE MG publishes key points of Karabakh conflict settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>U.S. co-chair of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.apa.az\/tag\/OSCE\">OSCE<\/a><span><span>\u00a0<\/span>Minsk Group, Ambassador Richard Hoagland has decided to retire.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/1905.az\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/409169339.jpg\" alt=\"409169339\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Hoagland published the key points of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.apa.az\/tag\/Nagorno-Karabakh-\">Nagorno-Karabakh\u00a0<\/a>conflict&#8217;s settlement,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apa.az\/\">APA<\/a>\u00a0reported citing Voice of America.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking into account the complicated history of Nagorno-Karabakh, the sides should define its legal future status with mutual consent and legally binding expression of will. A temporary status should be given to an area which is not controlled by Baku and is within the borders of the former<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.apa.az\/tag\/Nagorno-Karabakh-\">Nagorno-Karabakh<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/a>Autonomous Region, that would at least ensure autonomy and security guarantees\u201d, said the U.S. co-chair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe occupied territories around Nagorno Karabakh should be handed over to Azerbaijan. There can be no settlement on these territories without taking into account Azerbaijan&#8217;s sovereignty. Azerbaijan&#8217;s sovereignty over these territories must be restored\u201d, he noted<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere should be a safe corridor that will connect Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. Nevertheless, it cannot include the whole<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.apa.az\/tag\/Lachin-\">Lachin<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/a>district\u201d, Hoagland said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe long-term settlement should recognize the right of all displaced people and refugees to return to their former places of residence.\u00a0<span>The settlement should include international security guarantees which will include peacekeeping measures.
