The 2nd meeting of the ministers and high officials in charge of information and media of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) has been held in Baku.
Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev highlighted the work done after the last meeting of the ministers and high officials in charge of information and media. He said that yesterday important issues were discussed at the 7th meeting of the working group on cooperation in media and information sphere of the Turkic Council.
Addressing the event, the Azerbaijani President`s Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov underlined that the Turkic Council, which was established 10 years ago in Nakhchivan, expresses the interests of member states. Ali Hasanov noted that the meeting focuses on the development of media cooperation among countries. He pointed out that this cooperation should serve to protect the interests of the Turkic peoples in Eurasia and around the world. He said that the mutual relations in the television industry should be expanded.
Stressing the importance of exchange of experience and journalists among news agencies, Ali Hasanov noted that AZERTAC is making efforts on this front and has established good relations with partner agencies.
Other speakers at the event included Vice Minister of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan Marat Azilkhanov, Department head at the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan Bakhtimgul Novruzbayova, Chief Advisor of the Turkish President, TRT member of the board of directors Mustafa Akis, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Omer Kocaman and Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council of Azerbaijan Nushiravan Maharramov.
The 3rd meeting of the ministers and high officials in charge of information and media of the Turkic Council will be held in Kyrgyzstan.
A video made by TRT AVAZ highlighting the history and culture of the Turkic Council member states was screened at the event.
The meeting also featured the signing of a protocol on multilateral technical cooperation among national public TV channels.
