“I am happy to pay my first visit in the region to Azerbaijan,” said President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili as she met with Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament Ogtay Asadov.
President Salome Zourabichvili noted that the friendly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan have an ancient history. She pointed out that the deepening of the inter-parliamentary relations has positive impact on the development of the intergovernmental ties.
President Salome Zourabichvili emphasized the importance of the Azerbaijan-initiated energy projects with the active involvement of Georgia.
Pointing to Azerbaijan-Georgia bilateral ties, Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov said the relations between the two countries have an ancient history. He noted that the two countries have historically enjoyed good neighborly relations. Speaker Asadov noted that the relations between the two countries have reached the level of strategic partnership since Azerbaijan restored its independence.
Underlining that President Salome Zourabichvili’s visit will contribute to further strengthening of relations between the two countries, Ogtay Asadov emphasized the importance of energy and transport projects implemented with the involvement of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
