Nagorno Karabakh conflict represents a threat for the entire South Caucasus. The statement came from Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov.
He said this while speaking at the Second Global Forum of Open Societies in Baku.
“However, I am confident that in case this problem is settled, the regional countries can establish normal relations. To this end it is necessary to study the experience of the European Union”, he said.
All the same, the deputy minister noted that the understanding of the need to drive the aggressor out of the occupied lands is very important in this issue.
“Minsk Group is an important international institution consisting of the leading countries of the world. It includes Russia, the United States, France, Turkey, Germany, Italy. But the fact that most of the MG members are passive creates a negative impression of the overall Minsk process”, the deputy minister said noting that all OSCE MG members must show activeness.
He said today there is an opinion that the OSCE Minsk Group spares most of its time ineffectively.
“Is it possible to say that the world community can really ensure the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the countries? This question still needs to be answered”, the deputy minister said in conclusion.
