The Azerbaijani President`s Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov has said official Yerevan ignores all calls and remains loyal to its non-constructive position.
“In response to the calls of the presidents of the Minsk Group co-chairing countries, Azerbaijan ceased fire. But Armenia disregards these calls and continues its attacks,” he told Anadolu Agency. “It is the provocative action of the Armenian armed forces that prompted the recent clashes on the line of contact. As always, with these provocative attacks the Armenian armed forces attempted to spoil positive steps taken by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in order to solve the problem.”
“They made similar provocative actions on the front line when French President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin increased their efforts to find a solution to the problem in 2014 and 2015 respectively. And they again did this, this time when President Ilham Aliyev visited the USA and met with Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry,” he said.
“Armenia continues to fire on Azerbaijani positions, and Azerbaijan is forced to repulse these attacks.”
“Azerbaijan fulfills all its commitments with respect to the settlement of the conflict. Official Baku wants the problem to be solved peacefully and in compliance with international law,” Hasanov added.
