One of the brutalities perpetrated by Armenians against Azerbaijanis took place in one of the oldest cities of Azerbaijan, in Shamakhi.

Then, Armenians wanted to occupy Shamakhi town, center of the district. In the March of 1918 under supervision of Lalayan, helper of Stepan Shaumyan, inhuman groups of Armenian-dashnaks of Baku Soviet in real terms mercilessly inflicted peaceful and innocent people of Shamakhi. There was an aim of these brutalities perpetrated by Armenians against Azerbaijanis: to realize ethnic cleaning through genocide and to appropriate Turkish lands.

These claims were expressed by Elkhan Suleymanov, MP from Shamakhi, and president of ACSDA in the interview with journalists. MP emphasized in the press-tour dedicated to 31 March – Genocide day of Azerbaijani people that the Shamakhi genocide was one of the cruel crimes in the history of mankind.

MP gave information about history and socio-political roots of the genocide perpetrated by Armenians against Azerbaijanis and talked about indifference of international community towards this injustice. He emphasized that media had more significant duties in preservation of memories of millions of innocent people killed in Shamakhi district in 1918 and in delivering realities about this tragedy to the world community, and called journalists to be more active on this issue.

E.Suleymanov mentioned that the history of the genocide of Azerbaijanis began from 1905 and on the eve of the 110^th anniversary of these events “1905.az” web portal was prepared and presented to the society. Additionally, he talked about the history and socio-political roots of the genocide policy of Armenians against Azerbaijanis, and both as the president of the ACSDA and MP from Shamakhi he mentioned that this issue was always on his agenda.

Beside this tragic massacre, then Baku, Quba, Salyan, Zangazur, Yerevan, Karabakh and Nakhchivan massacres also were perpetrated and Azerbaijani people exposed to explicit genocide by Armenians. Over 12 thousand of people from Shamakhi were killed and thousands of countrymen were driven out from their lands. If it is not genocide, then what is it? Why are international organizations silent on this issue? When these double standards will end?

At the end he mentioned that Armenians along the long years had been trying to divert attention of the world into wrong direction with their imagine genocide claims. Nevertheless only the massacres took place in Shamakhi prove that we were subjected to the genocide rather than Armenians. Traces of Armenian bullets still remain in Juma mosque in Shamakhi. Then, they gathered people in the mosque and burned them alive. Trace of the burned parts of the mosque still witness to the history.  Bones of human in the yard of Imam-zade mosque are the harvests of Armenian vandalism. We cannot forget them. The world at last must see all these and confirm the wrong party.
